Steven became a survivor of suicide in October of 2006 when his father took his own life. Steven was left with a lot of questions and very few answers, a common occurrence when a family member dies by suicide. As time passed, Steven realized the Pensacola area lacked a support structure for the friends and families affected by suicide. When Pensacola Survivors organized, Steven felt a call to action to help find ways to support the Pensacola community deal with suicide.
Steven was brought to Pensacola at a young age when his dad was stationed aboard Corry Station in the Navy. He stayed in Pensacola for college where he went to the University of West Florida and obtained two bachelor degrees, one in Accounting and one in Economics. He has chosen Pensacola as his home to raise his own family. As part of the local community, Steven wants to make sure that survivors of suicide are provided the resources to help cope with the loss of a loved one.
